Environment As human beings, we rely on the nature around us to supply basic necessities such as food and water. Global challenges including urbanization, climate change, and extreme weather conditions make the need for preserving our natural resources increasingly evident. The management of water resources, for instance, has become a global concern and a priority for future sustainable development.
High-quality 3D visualizations and better mapping improve the quality of projects and convey more information, decreasing overall project costs.
3D visualization
By producing a 3D visualization model, we allow a greater understanding of the project for both project engineers, the client and end users. By means of a 3D visualization, the project owner is able to present his plans in a clear and easy-to-understand way, which can create a big impact – one of our customers recently stated: “A 3D model in this project has been a revolutionary tool”.
All our visualizations are based on accurate maps. This accuracy means that the model can be used for more than spectacular visualizations. Among other things, the high quality of the 3D models makes them a valuable tool in the engineering work.
3D visualization products
We offer several different products: 3D City models, 3D films, 3D perspectives, Photo montages, sun/shadow analyses, 3D environmental models, VR models, Flash presentations and more.
In fact, everything that can be mathematically described can also be visualized. And everything that is correct and reliable can also be visualized in a spectacular way!
Detailed and accurate maps are fundamental requirements for area and volume analysis, project planning, and 3D visualization. The potential cost benefits of good, detailed maps are enormous compared to the cost of producing them.
At Octopodes, we offer a full suite of mapping services, from planning and consultation to finished map products. Data gathering is a key element of map production. We help our customers determine what kind of data is suitable for their projects and make sure that all survey data, aerial photography, laser data or satellite data are the very best available.
Mapping products
Our products include digital maps, orthophotos, and terrain models. These are constructed and delivered according to whatever standards, and formats are specified by our customers.
We look carefully at the quality of existing map data to decide whether additional data gathering is required so that duplication is avoided and costs are minimised.

Air quality and air pollution are two of the most important health challenges facing people in cities around the world. The improvement of air quality is essential if we are to maintain an acceptable urban environment in our cities.
Air quality, energy production, and industrial manufacturing. The planning and control of energy generation, energy consumption and industrial manufacturing raises the following questions:

  • How can we avoid adverse effects on the environment at a reasonable cost?
  • How can we minimise and control air pollution?
  • What are the legal requirements for air emissions?
  • In flue gas cleaning, how can we ensure efficient use of absorbents, energy efficiency and additional heat recovery?

Reducing air pollution from energy producing facilities and industrial manufacturing are two ways of improving air quality. There are many Flue Gas Treatment (FGT) technologies, each with their advantages and disadvantages. Our team of experienced engineering specialists can find the optimal solution for your facility, based on:

Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is our name for the combination of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other advanced computer aided design techniques – including 3D modelling, parametric design and analysis. By using VDC Octopodes adds value at all stages of a building’s life cycle.
Our approach and experience
Creating buildings that meet the needs of society today and in the future is not an easy task. Octopodes has led the way in the use of a range of advanced computer aided design techniques that can help produce these buildings. We have a unique approach to using Building information modelling (BIM) and CAD, and combining these with analysis techniques – we call this Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). This approach has benefits for the entire building project team, future users and society as a whole:

  • 3D modelling and visualisations allow clients, designers and all stakeholders to experience the building early in the design process.
  • Clash detection resolves design issues before the building is constructed – minimising the risk of costly design revisions during the actual construction phase.
  • Building configurations and characteristics can be assessed, iterated and optimised before construction – resulting in improved sustainability and economy of the solutions.
  • Information is managed and shared efficiently between the project design team, contractors and future users –reducing time, cost and risk at all stages of the building’s life.
  • Parametric design can rationalise complex geometries and relationships – realising architectural aspirations that would not otherwise be possible.
  • Efficient and elegant structural forms are created by combining advanced engineering analysis tools with 3D CAD and parametric design methods. This strong combination leads to inspiring buildings with minimised material and energy consumption.

We successfully utilise our Virtual Design and Construction techniques every day. We see these as a design toolbox. The key is using the most appropriate tool in the most efficient way – ensuring that the right information gets to the right people at the right time. Combining computer software and project organisation procedures to realise the benefits of Building Information Modelling can be challenging. We have developed a methodology to overcome the various barriers. Using this methodology we can assist any of our partners to successfully adopt BIM on a project.
